Indian Railways
is owned and operated by the Govt. of India. There is a separate ministry for Indian
railways as we know that as a Ministry of Railways. Indian Railways, the world’s
fourth largest in terms of network which is the lifeline for the 23 million people
who use it every day. It’s network is about 115,000 kilometers and stations are
about 7,112.
Let’s know
the Indian Railways history, as we know that Indian railways were first
introduced in 1853 by Lord Dalhousie (Governor General of India) and train was
run from Mumbai to Thane and covered 34 km that time our India was not an independent
country, India was ruled by British Government.
At present, Indian Railways cover twenty
nine states and seven union territories and also provide international services
(limited) to Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Indian
Railways is the world’s seventh largest commercial employer in which around 1.376 million people works as of last
published figures in 2013.
All over India
there are 17 zones and 71 divisions in Indian Railways. 71 divisions come under
17 zones. Each division is managed by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM). We are
